ποΈ Ekadashi fast: Do married women have to skip it?
The belief that married women should skip Ekadashi fasting, unlike widows, is questioned by spiritual leaders. Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja cited King Ambarisa as an example of a devoted married ruler observing the fast. Furthermore, Shri Rajendra Das Ji Maharaj stated that no scriptural basis supports this prohibition for married women. He emphasized that devotion is the core, not marital status, in the observance. Ultimately, individual traditions and circumstances guide how Ekadashi is practiced.
