Researchers developed powerful catalysts by combining calcium from eggshell waste with manganese from used alkaline batteries. This innovative process was carried out by the Institute of Materials Chemistry in Vienna, Austria. The resulting calcium–manganese oxide nanocomposites showed excellent low-temperature activity, achieving about 85% CO conversion near 300°C. This method smartly turns two environmental problems—waste and pollution—into a sustainable solution. The team suggests this could help create affordable catalysts to clean polluted air globally. 🌍
