health π¦ DR Congo Ebola outbreak threatens to break records π¦
The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is set to surpass the deadliest in history, according to the WHO head. This crisis is unfolding in eastern Congo, which is the fastest-growing outbreak globally. As of now, over 2,000 deaths have occurred out of more than 4,300 cases since it began in February. The outbreak is challenging due to the rare Bundibugyo virus having no approved vaccines or treatments. Experts now project the peak could last up to twelve months, prompting clinical trials for new treatments.
