health π Diet quality matters as much as weight loss
A two-year clinical trial investigated if focusing on food quality could impact weight management for obese adults. The DELISH trial was conducted with 360 primary care patients in the southeastern United States. At the 24-month mark, the Mediterranean-style group lost about 5kg versus 4kg in the control group. While weight loss was similar, the Mediterranean group showed significantly better diet quality improvements. This suggests that dietary pattern changes offer value beyond just the number on the scale.
