π©Ί Diabetes boosts sudden cardiac death risk
Diabetes was found to be linked with a higher risk of sudden cardiac death, even without obstructive coronary artery disease. Researchers analyzed 22,395 patients in a Finnish hospital from 2007 to 2018. Post-adjustment, diabetes showed a higher risk for SCD (SHR, 1.38) and a similar association with non-SCD. In patients with diabetes and CAD, revascularisation lowered SCD risk compared to medical therapy alone. The findings emphasize the need for better risk stratification in diabetic individuals. π©Ί
