science 🌿 Darwin's plant theory confirmed in China 🤯
A carnivorous plant found in China has confirmed Darwin’s theory about plant behavior from over 150 years ago. Researchers, led by Xin-Jian Zhang, studied Saxifraga candelabrum in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Hengduan Mountains. The plant traps about 71 insects on average and uses scents to attract prey. Lab tests showed it digests insects, absorbing vital nutrients for growth. This confirms insect-eating is more common in flowering plants than thought. 🌿
