Cyclosporin A (CsA), an immunosuppressant, triggers a RIG-I-mediated interferon response through several cellular processes. This mechanism was observed in lung epithelial cells, where CsA induced IFN-λ mRNA and secretion. At concentrations like 10 µM and 25 µM, significant IFN-λ induction occurred, alongside a dose-dependent rise in IFN-β. This effect was functionally validated in mice treated with CsA, reaching relevant blood concentrations. The findings suggest CsA works as a broad-spectrum antiviral agent through this dual mechanism. 🧪
