π« Cop talks man down from bridge in Nashville
A Metro Nashville police lieutenant saved a man's life after a tense standoff on the Victory Memorial Bridge. Lieutenant Mike Hotz spoke with Gary Butler, who was livestreaming his intent to jump, on July 23. The officer used active listening to build trust, leading Butler to step away from the ledge. Butler later shared his struggles with homelessness and affording medication, which Hotz listened to. Weeks later, Butler was stable, having found housing and therapy.
