π¦ Congo Ebola fight shows progress, but not over yet π¦
UN officials reported some progress in controlling the Ebola epidemic in eastern Congo, though the outbreak remains massive. The special Ebola coordinator noted that while some areas improve, cases are still rising elsewhere. Congo Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba mentioned daily cases dropped from 120 at the peak to around 80 since mid-August. Overall, 7,258 confirmed cases and 3,510 deaths have been recorded across seven provinces as of Tuesday. Experts caution that the situation in North Kivu is alarming and more support is needed for full control.
