ποΈ Commander who wouldn't leave won Param Vir Chakra
Lt Col Ardeshir Burzorji Tarapore passed away on the battlefield leading his regiment in the 1965 war. He was commanding the Poona Horse regiment in the Sialkot sector of Pakistan. During the six-day battle, his regiment destroyed about 60 enemy tanks while suffering only nine losses. Tarapore bravely refused evacuation even after being wounded during the intense fighting. For his incredible leadership and courage, he was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. ποΈ
