⚠️ Cold meds for toddlers face new safety restrictions
The Centre has restricted the manufacture, sale, and distribution of certain cold medicine combinations for kids under four. This applies to all fixed-dose combinations containing chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine hydrochloride across India. The government cited risks like excessive drowsiness and rapid heartbeat in young children. This action follows a regulatory review dating back to 2023, with the restriction being extended in February 2026. Parents are now advised to use safer options like saline nasal drops instead.
