π¬ CFRP joint strength tested with advanced modeling
Researchers conducted an experimental and numerical study on SLJ and SSLJ joints made from CFRP composites. The investigation focused on joint geometry and substrate thickness, specifically at 2.0 and 4.0 mm, using a coupled LaRC05/XFEM-CZM framework. The SSLJ with 2.0 mm thickness achieved a peak failure load of 7584 N, beating the SLJ's 6852 N by 10.7%. Increasing the substrate to 4.0 mm lowered the failure loads for both joint types. The 2.0 mm SSLJ configuration ultimately showed the best mechanical performance across all tested setups. π οΈ
