health πΉ CCTV in all pharmacies? Chemists push back.
India's top drug advisory panel recommended mandatory CCTV surveillance at every pharmacy counter to curb illegal drug trafficking. This recommendation came after the Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) met on August 27. The move now faces opposition from chemists, highlighted by the AIOCD's letter dated September 17. Chemists argue the required infrastructure cost of around Rs 50,000 to 1 Lac is unaffordable for small businesses. They also point out technical issues like power failures and suggest a source-based tracking system instead. π
