π Car sales up, but automaker profits are taking a hit
Carmakers are experiencing strong sales volumes, yet rising input costs are significantly squeezing their profits. Maruti Suzuki saw a 29.3% jump in sales to over 6.8 lakh units in the June quarter, but its net profit actually dropped by 10.8%. Tata Motors' domestic business grew 46% in volume, though its consolidated net profit plunged by around 80%. Hyundai Motor India faced a 35% net profit decline despite a 5.4% rise in domestic volumes. Automakers are absorbing these cost hikes while investing heavily in new EV and hybrid technologies. πΈ
