CJI Surya Kant pointed out the massive scale of global money laundering during the 43rd International Symposium on Economic Crime in Cambridge. He stated that the illicit wealth moved globally in one year could afford a modest laptop for all eight billion people. Furthermore, he noted that less than one percent of this immense criminal proceeds is ever actually recovered. The CJI urged a stronger global focus on tracing, freezing, and recovering these stolen funds. He stressed that success should be measured by recovered wealth, not just problem identification. π»
