science โจ Black hole core outshines entire galaxy in M77
The brilliant core of the M77 galaxy is shining brighter than the rest of the galaxy combined. This intense glow originates from a supermassive black hole located in the center of M77. Observations show the black hole has about eight million times the mass of the Sun, and the gas around it is superheated. This active galactic nucleus is visible even through Webb's sensitive observations. Astronomers will use these detailed data points to study the complete life cycle of stars. ๐
