The Bihar government informed the Supreme Court that a police constable fired an AK-47 during recent student protests in Siwan. Constable Abhishek Kumar allegedly fired four rounds into the air on July 25 near JP Chowk after getting trapped by the crowd. The state claimed no protestors were injured by the AK-47, though three suffered minor injuries from other police action. Kumar has since been suspended and faces departmental proceedings for his conduct. The government also reported 69 FIRs and 500 arrests across the state between July 22 and July 25.
