π¬ Big pituitary tumor links to hormone drops post-surgery π₯
Approximately one in six patients developed new or worsening hormonal deficits after pituitary adenoma surgery. The study, led by Daniel Ameen, analyzed 2350 patients across several countries between 2015 and 2022. Patients with significantly larger baseline tumor volumes showed a strong link to these postoperative endocrine issues. Gross total resection was shown to reduce the risk compared to subtotal resection in these cases. This suggests monitoring tumor growth could help limit hormonal compromise risk.
