Scientists at CERN confirmed that primordial quark-gluon plasma forms even in very small nuclei, breaking old assumptions. The ALICE collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider found this using oxygen-16 and neon-20 collisions. These nuclei are over 12 times lighter than the lead nuclei previously used for this research.
