β€οΈ Beta-blocker timing in heart attack patients
Researchers investigated the optimal timing for starting oral beta-blockers in critically ill patients after an acute myocardial infarction. The study, conducted using MIMIC-IV data from 5,899 patients, compared early (β€ 24h) versus delayed (> 24β72h) initiation. The 90-day mortality rates were found to be 25.7% versus 25.2% for the two groups. This research suggests that the timing of oral beta-blocker initiation isn't strongly linked to 90-day mortality in these patients. Further research is needed to confirm these findings. π§
