business π Bank Unions Threaten Strike Over Pension and Working Hours
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) announced a nationwide strike scheduled for September 11 to press their demands. This action is being taken by the UFBU, which is an umbrella body of nine bank employee and officer unions, across the country. The key issues include the delayed five-day banking implementation and differences regarding the performance-linked incentive (PLI) scheme. The unions also cite unresolved demands concerning pension updation and a uniform dearness allowance formula for all pensioners. If negotiations fail, the UFBU has threatened an indefinite strike starting October 26. π
