Assam and Meghalaya have agreed to complete the evacuation of stranded passengers and vehicles within 48 hours. This was decided during a joint meeting at the Koinadhara State Guest House, led by Meghalaya Deputy CM S Dhar and Assam Minister Atul Bora. So far, over 3,770 Assam-registered vehicles have safely reached Assam following the August 19 violence. The states will set up joint mechanisms and permanent district-level committees to prevent future escalations. This move aims to restore confidence among residents and transport operators in the region.
