science π¬ Antioxidant molecule could fight muscle loss
Scientists in Japan identified a molecule that may protect the body's muscle repair system against age-related decline. The research team, led by Professor Ryuichi Tatsumi at Kyushu University, published findings on July 24, 2026. The study focused on Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF), which weakens due to nitration as people age. Testing two sulfur-based compounds, LASSS showed a much stronger effect than GSSSG. This suggests LASSS could lead to new treatments for muscle loss in humans and pets. π¬
