science π¬ Antioxidant might supercharge muscle repair HGF
Researchers found that a compound called LASSS can protect HGF from damaging chemical alteration as people age. This study, conducted by Kyushu University in Japan, tested two antioxidants on HGF protein. The findings showed LASSS not only blocked nitration but also made the protein twice as effective in muscle repair. This suggests LASSS creates a 'super HGF' form, which is promising for fighting sarcopenia. Next, the team plans to test LASSS further in human muscle models. π§ͺ
