tech 🤖 Anthropic wins legal battle against Pentagon risk label
A federal judge in California ruled that the Trump administration's labeling of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk was illegal on Thursday evening. U.S. District Judge Rita Lin determined that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s action constituted unlawful retaliation, violating the First Amendment. This followed earlier labeling this year when federal agencies were ordered to stop working with the Claude maker. The dispute arose because Anthropic set guardrails against Pentagon use in autonomous weapons. The judge noted the government's actions were based on wanting to make an example of the company. 🤖
