tech π± Android phone beat Fire Stick for TV viewing
The author permanently retired their Fire Stick after successfully repurposing an old Android phone to function as a smart TV interface. This setup was achieved by connecting a Samsung Galaxy phone to the TV, which proved superior to the Fire TV ecosystem. The transition involved using a wired connection with a USB-C-to-HDMI cable and installing Screen Orientation Control. The phone allows access to the full Google Play Store, unlike Fire OS's Amazon Appstore. Consequently, the author feels no need to buy another streaming device moving forward.
