π¬ Ancient insect had a super bendy drinking straw
Israeli and Chinese researchers discovered a unique feeding organ in a prehistoric insect. This find was made by teams from Tel Aviv University and Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology. The insects lived about 100 million years ago during the Cretaceous period. The flexible, accordion-like mouthparts likely helped the insect probe deep into tough plant tissues. This adaptation could have given the ancient Noo-Noo a major evolutionary edge. π¬
