science ๐ญ Ancient galaxy ruins found in Milky Way's core
Astronomers have discovered the remains of an ancient dwarf galaxy hidden within the center of the Milky Way galaxy. This discovery involves the Low-energy-Kraken-Heracles (LKH) system, which merged roughly 1.8 billion years before the Gaia-Sausage-Enceladus impact. The research, published in Nature Astronomy, analyzed 39 globular clusters using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. This finding shows that stars from external galaxies must be considered in the Milky Way's early evolution. Scientists plan to use future missions to scan the galactic core for more insights into its beginnings.
