π΅οΈ AliExpress caught using audio trick to track users
Chinese retailer AliExpress was found employing an audio trick to fingerprint website visitors. Researcher Matthew Callaghan discovered this method after his phone audio stopped playing through his Bluetooth headphones while on the platform. This technique analyzed inaudible audio signals using obfuscated scripts on the AliExpress homepage. Differences in how browsers process this audio create unique and identifiable signatures for tracking. Major browsers like Firefox and Chrome have since implemented protections against such fingerprinting methods. π§
