π₯ AIIMS Rishikesh found guilty of wrong HIV diagnosis
The Uttarakhand state consumer commission upheld an order finding AIIMS Rishikesh guilty of medical negligence regarding an HIV diagnosis. The patient, who fell ill on July 12, 2014, was recorded as HIV positive at AIIMS Rishikesh but later tested negative in Dehradun. The commission confirmed the hospital must pay Rs 60,000 in total, which included Rs 50,000 compensation and Rs 10,000 in litigation costs. This ruling was based on the hospital's own records repeatedly labeling the patient as HIV positive without supporting evidence. AIIMS's appeal was dismissed, solidifying the financial penalty for the misdiagnosis. π₯
