Over 22 lakh voters purged from the electoral roll in West Bengal have filed appeals challenging their exclusion. This was revealed by the Election Commission of India in the Supreme Court, where approximately 27 lakh voters were initially excluded for 'logical discrepancies'. A total of 38.31 lakh appeals were filed across 19 Appellate Tribunals over the past six months. The EC is now agreeing to increase the number of tribunals to streamline the disposal process. The case is scheduled for its next hearing on September 22.
