india 😔 19 Bengal workers freed after detention scare
Nineteen migrant workers from West Bengal have been released from Chhattisgarh on Friday, September 18, 2026. These individuals, mostly from Murshidabad’s Samserganj and Sahabad areas, were initially detained on September 4, 2026. The detention occurred after police summoned them for document verification regarding suspected Bangladeshi nationality. Their family members claimed the late-night detention was illegal despite them having all necessary Indian citizenship proofs. Trinamool Congress MP Samirul Islam criticized the practice, hoping the remaining four workers are also soon released.
